Tours featuring this place: "Big Crimean Hike"
A closer look at its history reveals that the trail was created by Lev Golitsyn, who ruled these lands in the 19th century.
If you’re planning to take on the Golitsyn Trail, don’t wear uncomfortable shoes. The walk can take up to 6 hours because the trail stretches for 5.6 kilometers.
Before we tell you what you’ll see on this fascinating walk, here’s what you should know about the trail: it’s quite narrow and not entirely safe, as it runs above a steep drop. But would that stop a true hiker from taking on the Golitsyn Trail? Besides, wooden handrails have long since been installed, making it less dangerous.
So keep your balance, don’t look down, and step confidently toward adventure!
As you walk the Golitsyn Trail, you’ll discover a remarkable natural grotto with perfect acoustics, known as Shalyapin’s Grotto. It once housed a Christian church and was also used to store wine. Along the way, you’ll also find a well with crystal-clear water, where you can quench your thirst before continuing along the trail. Further on, you’ll come to a magnificent view of Blue Bay and Cape Kapchik. Beyond them lies the beautiful bay of Golubaya, with its Tsar’s Beach, where Emperor Nicholas II once spent time.
With such beautiful natural scenery, what could be better? But there’s something even more exciting ahead: the climb to Karaul-Oba. It won’t be easy, but it’s worth it.
