Laspi Bay is 12 km long and lies in the Primorsky climate resort area, 40 km from Yalta and 30 km from Sevastopol. In medieval times, a Greek village called Laspi stood between Mount Shaburla (545 m) and Mount Machuk (624.7 m), giving the area its name. The name comes from the Greek word for “mud.” The local geology means traces of mudflows can be found throughout the area.
