Sakhalin, September 2023

Our now-traditional tour of Sakhalin has wrapped up.  The weather is wonderful at this time of year, and we love coming here in September.

This time, a group of 15 joined us on the trip. On the first day, we headed to Aniva Lighthouse. Sakhalin's most famous landmark did not disappoint: bright sunshine, no big waves, everything was perfect.

Day two was all about Busse Lake. We caught plenty of seafood, and it was delicious. It's a shame the lake is becoming less and less abundant, but so many tourists are taking their toll...

The itinerary included Bird Cape and Velikan Cape. It was pretty cloudy this time. I feel like I've never been here in any other kind of weather.)

On other days, we visited Frog Mountain and Tikhaya Bay. We had to replace Moneron Island because of the storm, so we went sea fishing for flounder and other fish instead. Between outings, we managed to explore Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
